This is an original "Western Electric Blue Bell Dry Cell for Telephone Service", Western Electric designator KS 6542. It is in amazing condition. Aside from a little discoloration on the top, it appears almost new. And even more amazing, it still has a charge. It's manufacture date is 3-28-1959. Just a few months before I was born. What a silly thing to have.
"Blue Bell Battery"
In the early days of telephones, the "Talk Power" was provided by batteries at each telephone installation (local battery). Later, common battery exchanges in cities eliminated this, but local battery remained common till the 60's and 70's in rural areas. This battery power was provided by 2 or 3 - 6 inch x 2 1/2 inch dia. dry cells. These photo's are of an original "Western Electric Blue Bell Dry Cell for Telephone Service", Western Electric designator KS 6542 - a #6 dry cell.
I will and like to combine ship. I will also ship with the most efficient means available to your time specifications. I charge a $4.00 handling/packaging fee included in the shipping price listed per listing but only charge a $6.00 handling/packaging fee on combination shipments. I reserve the right to charge a higher handling/packaging fee when items are to numerous (example, 10 or more items needing individual wrapping within the combined package) and or require extra special care. I will specify when asked to combine ship.
Hey, I don't have much feedback yet but I will soon. In the meantime you can contact my friends on eBay, geobren207 or http://myworld.ebay.com/geobren207/ I have known them personally for over 30 years... They will vouch for my good character.
