Up for auction is a great single " THE FISHER 100" tube amplifier , if perfectly working conditions.
The unit has been tested completely for few days , just to check any issue with overheating.
The power supply has been rebuilt with new , fresh capacitors and a pair of the same capacitors used
in the update , will be shipped to the winner , in order to allow the same operation on another unit , to have a stereo pair with identical power supply.
Since I'm convinced that this is the most important stage of any amp.It is good to have matched amp with the same components.
The pots have been cleaned and a couple faulty resistors have been changed with same value and carbon layer type ones , same as the originals.
The 12AT7 in the input stage has been changed with a better NOS RCA .The output tubes are american made 6L6( this amp came out with EL37 , equivalent to 6L6, and the previous owner put NOS tubes on).
Everything else has been checked and left in place .
To say the all story , after examining the schematics, I tried to bypass the input capacitor , and I have to say that the difference is noticeable
and much in favor of the NO CAP situation.
I then decided to put everything back to preserve the unit as original as possible.
The pushpull balancing has been done on the DC current on the primary winding of the output transformer .
This amp has been checked well and sounds great: solid, dynamic, open.
This is still an extremely valid schematic and a lot of new amps that sell for big bucks don't came close to a solid , well studied project like this .
It is not a case that after 40 years they are still very sought after.
Paint is in good conditions for the age and the tube cage has no dents..
The amp will be packed well and will arrive safely.
