This Magellan 3000 GPS, a compass and a chart are all you need to navigate offshore or inshore. Save waypoints or enter them into the GPS. The Magellan will give you your current position by latitude and longitude, the bearing to your next waypoint, the distance to it, and the speed over ground. It will track your course with an on-screen plotter and allow you to backtrack that same route should someone fall overboard. This unit works perfectly though it is 11 years old. It would make a good unit for near shore navigation or a back-up for longer voyages. It is battery-powered, so when the time comes you don't have to worry about working a recharger on the boat. Just insert new batteries. It comes with mounting bracket, cover and original manual.
