This device allows you to listen to the Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS soundtrack of dvds, games, etc through headphones. It is ideal for people in apartments who want the full effects of surround sound but don't want to make so much noise for the neighbours. The DDTS-30 comes with a cable that connects to the digital coax port of your dvd player or game machine and channels 5.1 or DTS through any pair of headphones. The DDTS-30 even has two slots for headphones, so 2 people can enjoy the sound at once. The device runs off of 2 AA batteries. I used rechargeables and they worked great.
