CableCARD™ Overview
CableLabs® specifications define the interface between the CableCARD™ removable security module which separates the cable operator's proprietary conditional access system and the host device. Cable operators provide CableCARDs to subscribers.
The early cable removable security cards were called Point-of-Deployment (POD) modules. CableLabs later coined the term CableCARD™ and began describing the removable security devices as CableCARD security modules
